Lester J. McKee



Lester J. McKee, Director of Programs, CSF-DC
Lester currently serves as the Director of Programs at the College Success Foundation DC. Lester has dedicated his career to improving the academic and career success of disadvantaged and low-income students in diverse educational settings, including school systems and universities in Louisiana, New Jersey and Georgia. Prior to his work at the College Success Foundation DC, Lester served as an accountability consulting partner to school districts and nonprofit organizations supporting organizational improvement efforts and providing data management support, balanced scorecard development; project management guidance; staff development workshops; and team effectiveness training. Lester has also supported school districts and nonprofits in Georgia, New York, Minnesota, Virginia and Mississippi.

Lester’s notable administrative positions and appointments include: Director of Minority Education at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ; Director, School to Careers and College Initiatives for the Newark Public Schools in Newark, NJ; Executive Director, Research, Planning and Accountability and Program Administrator, K-12 College and Career Readiness for Atlanta Public Schools in Atlanta, GA; and Member, Governing Board for The Main Street Academy Charter School in College Park, GA. In these various roles, Lester developed college and career awareness and development programs for public school students; monitored diversity initiatives; provided advisement services for urban and undeclared students; and developed accountability metrics, indicators and strategies to ensure the overall health and success of P-16 education systems and non-profit organizations across the country. Lester earned his bachelor of science degree in Biology from Dillard University, and a Master’s of Arts degree in Multicultural Education and Urban Sociology from William Patterson University.
